Joep Althuizen is doing an internship in the education department of Carmabi on Curaçao. He is a third-year student at HAS University of Applied-Sciences and will graduate in 2016 with a bachelor of science degree in Applied Biology.
Joep was born in Venray, The Netherlands, on August 26th 1993 and came to Curaçao in February 2015. He expects to return to The Netherlands in July 2015. Joep describes himself as “a strongly motivated, pro-active teamplayer that is eager to learn more about science, education and the combination of these two”.
Since the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA) started the “Save our Sharks” project, in which an education compartment is included, Joep is designated to take care of the implementation of this shark-related education work at Carmabi.
One component of his internship involves collecting, presenting and developing educational materials that will be displayed in the new Marine Education Center of Carmabi.
