The first ever Dutch Caribbean Nature Photo Contest has concluded and the winners have been announced. The Saba Conservation Foundation (SCF), together with the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA) launched the contest in honour of SCF’s 25th birthday. The focus of the competition was the beauty of nature on and around our islands.
Today the award-winning photographs were announced and presented. In total almost 250 people uploaded over 1350 photos. The subject and quality of the various photos was very diverse. Obvious was, however, that everyone had taken his or her photo with a passion for Dutch Caribbean nature. The judges had quite a difficult job, but were able to decide on the photographs almost unanimously.
The overall winner is: Richard Stanage, uit Vienna, Virginia, USA. He wins an eight-day trip for two to the beautiful island of Saba, kindly made possible by DCNA and SCF. He won this competition with the following photo:
