RJ owns his own graphic design and consultancy company in the Netherlands and has been working with DCNA since 2005. His background is in visual arts & design as well as art, media and technology. After completing his studies in 2004, he spent a year on St Eustatius working in the field with STENAPA, the local national parks organisation.
“I wanted to do something completely different after six years of design and decided to go to Statia and make myself useful. I built hiking trails in the mornings and spent my afternoons in the national parks office, improving the website as well as various printed materials.”
Through this combination of conservation and design, RJ became involved with the -at the time- newly founded DCNA. From that time on, RJ has contributed his inspiration throughout the years to a wide variety of materials ranging from websites and web-applications to annual reports and information brochures. His love for Statia still remains as he tries to visit the island on a yearly basis.
